Back Again
Hello everyone sorry for not putting up anything for the last few days but as a lot of you know my circumstances are difficult at the moment...............
So in the Garden - another of the Ducks Chantelle has had her chicks hatch, she started with eight as did Pretty unfortunately they both only have five left as our friend the Grey Heron is getting to them and perhaps the odd Magpie and Jay.
Wow how can you eat something that big
The Bird of the Day is for my friend Kenny and is not a bird but a moth - The Humming Bird Moth

After lettuce comes bread
Today you will be happy to know that all seven are still around and getting bigger, faster and learning all the time.
Today we introduced bread and mum did not need to show them what to do they just got stuck in - they were a bit like the Griffins with that chunk of meat.
Although mum is still really hungry after weeks without food she still lets them eat first |
possibly even more pretty than mum |
of course the fish are constantly trying to get the bread also sometimes it can look strange when the babies are lifted up in the air |
The fish wins and the bread disappears under the water |

More of the chicks
Unfortunately mother nature has taken her toll - this morning eight became seven, probably one of the herons found them ( last year we lost a whole brood in three days ). However they have had a good day around the pond and had a walk to the feed bowl and jumped into that too and helped themselves.......................
Right says mum this it how you eat the lettuce that John throws in for us if it is to big I will make it smaller for you |
the lesson finished they get stuck innnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn |
Two of them seem to stick like glue to mum - no bad thing |
If mum puts her head under the water then so do I NOW FOR SOMETHING COMPLETELY DIFFERENT |

More New Arrivals
Yesterday Pretty the ducks eggs started to hatch she stayed in hiding until the early hours when she moved them down to the pond.....................................
The proud mum with her little ones |
one of the little Bobbits - at this age they are unable to dive so are very vulnerable to all the predators until they loose the fluff. |
and there off - its hard to keep control of them all because they are so inquisitive |
she keeps them same on an island on the pond under a tree.............. Today's Bird of the Day |
